A Christmas Project

One I can share anyway.

2012-12-03-01-Candy-Cane-Heart-Wreath-ProjectI have a load of Christmas projects I wish I could share with you, but many of them will be given to you (you know who you are) so I can’t share them until they’ve been opened.

I’m still trying to figure that one out. Should I all save the projects for next year, or delay publishing the post until after Christmas, should I post them anyway?

Opinions welcomed here.

One project I can share is quick & easy & dare I say, inexpensive? Who knows where I saw this on the internets, but I just had to make it especially considering you can get a box of 12 candy canes from the dollar store. My wreath took 2 boxes minus 2 candy canes. They just fit together better that way.

I started out Scotch-taping them together from the back, thinking that you could still eat them if you really wanted, but that didn’t hold very well. I highly recommend hot glue. No one really wants to eat candy canes anyway. Am I right? I used regular gift ribbon to “tie” (artistically speaking) the canes together. Green, or white ribbon could have looked nice too.

The large red hanging ribbon at the top I took off an old gift bag & ironed it smooth. Again you can use whatever is convenient.

I liked this project because it was something I could give away to anyone that wasn’t something to eat & it was quick to make. Even though I appreciate all the sweet treats this time of year I wanted to find something that people didn’t feel obligated to eat & wasn’t overpowering home decor-wise. I probably should have made more. I probably will.

When was the last time you ate a candy cane?

Did you really eat a candy cane? Did you at least put it in hot cocoa or something?
I’m really not a fan of candy canes.
