Halloween Eve

I think I’m an addict.

I can’t remember my first pair of, how to put this tactfully, unique socks. I do remember in High School just having bought a pack (6 pack) of over-the-calf men’s gray sporty tube socks with various colored stripes at the top. (Green, Orange, Blue, Yellow, Black, Red) In the car on the way home I couldn’t wait to pull them on, so I did. My window was down & some guy next to us in a truck leans way out his window & says, “Hey where’d you get those socks!” I’m sure my blush was as red as my hair, “Wal-Mart,” I said back to him. At the time I figured he really wanted to know, now I realize he was probably flirting, or trying to flirt with me. (Oblivious)

I like to wear ridiculous socks under jeans or with boots so I can be my conservative librarian self by day, & my quirky self by late afternoon. Of course I also wear them with capris, shorts or even when I go workout. Wearing them to workout adds a little spice. Lots of people go around wearing black, gray or white to the gym, I do too, but paired with black & white striped talls socks says “I’m not your run-of-the-mill gym attendee.”

I have stories about every one of these. Like the tie-dye green in the top left hand corner I bought at JoAnne’s Fabrics (known for their amazing socks) during the Halloween season. They are one of my favorite pairs. Every time I go there I look for socks because I would buy every pair they had if they had more just like these, but of course they don’t. For that matter why don’t socks have little tags like clothes so you know who made them & where to get more?

Those are the first pair of fishnet stockings I’ve ever owned. I love wearing them to church on Sunday to rile up the fuddy-duddies.

The monkey, heart & star toe socks were given to me by my best friend (Mysti, you know who you are!) for my 30th birthday. She also gave me the red & blue monkey toe socks way up at the top. I wear them on the wrong feet so the monkeys show, the hearts & stars are actually skid pads so you should wear them floor side, but who would ever see them then? They do help me stop when I belly slide down the hall on our hardwood floors so thats useful sometimes.

The white ninja-toe socks I wear as part of my white clothing in the temple. It’s one of those things no one will see, but makes me chuckle to myself all the same.

These black & gray stripes are the tallest pair of socks I own. They are nearly crotch height. Aren’t you glad I told you that?

These candy corn orange socks are my most recent purchase. They look cooler than they are. Sadly they were cheap, which is why I bought them, & they are cheap. Rather saggy at the ankles, which I hate. At the very least they don’t give me CSS.Chester Sock Syndrome. That boy could wipe up an entire gallon of spilled milk off the floor with the saggy toes of his socks, & has.

What is your favorite pair of socks?

My face hurts from smiling so much! I love your collection. I also can’t believe you remember CSS. That crazy man still has baggy socks. 🙂

Of course I remember CSS. I have a feet phobia so I’m all about everything feet related.
I even told Aaron about it. We talk about it all the time.

Tie dye green! I love green. Fun blog!

Poor Chester, Forever condemned to roam the wilderness wiping up spilt milk and then having to deal with the dreaded wet-sock. It’s a story to sad to recount…

The wilderness (or the couch) is the only place that will accept saggy toe milk wipers.
“It’s more than you deserve!” (Name that movie!)
